Happy New Year!

If we’re being honest, looking at the global stage right now feels a bit like watching a server crashing, in slow motion. Between the noise of world politics and the general chaos of the headlines, it’s easy to feel like the "hope" slider has been set to an all-time low. It often feels like we’re navigating a glitchy simulation where the devs have gone MIA.

But here’s the thing I’ve learned over the last 25 years of running this website: while we can’t always fix the "big" world, we have incredible power over our own small corners of it. Whether it’s building a private server, tinkering with AI, or just sharing a slice of pizza in VR, these small acts of creativity and connection are what keep the light on. Politics might be messy, but the human spirit—especially the curious, tech-loving, slightly stubborn spirit of this community—is remarkably resilient.

So, for 2026, let’s worry a little less about the glitches we can't control, and focus more on the parts we can build ourselves. Let’s make it a year of stable builds, low latency, and genuine kindness. Keep creating, keep questioning, and let’s make it a good one.

Cheers, André.
