This website has been my personal website since 2001, and the domain was actually registered in 2000. That's twenty-five years ago! Over the years, this website has had many forms. It has been running on WordPress since 2018 or 2019, and its current appearance, is actually brand new as of November 2025.

The posts on this website might seem pretty random to you, and you're absolutely right about that! This was not intentional, it just turned out this way. I'm not going to change this anytime soon, because I prefer to maintain the vibe that many websites used to have during the turn of the century. This was a time when no rules, guidelines or expectations existed yet, when it came to websites. It was the wild-west period of the internet, and to commemorate these great times, I like to keep things random. It's a personal blog website, so I can do whatever the f I want. And, to be honest, most people won't even notice, as they find their way to a specific page through a search engine, and close it once they're done. I suppose that's just how it works nowadays. People don't have the time anymore to go explore online. All the content is funneled in social media websites, and search engines will take you directly to what you need. All that is left, is to feel nostalgic towards the good old days. And to feel old by saying that.

Thanks for visiting my personal little blog here on the wonderful interwebz. My name is André, and I live in the Netherlands. I'm in my 40s, but I don't feel (or behave) like my age at all. I'm your typical Xennial generation type of person.

At this moment in my life I don't have a lot of responsibilities, and I'm fine with that, because this means that I have enough time for all the things that I want to do. One of these things used to be to spend ridiculous amounts of time in the online multiplayer game World of Warcraft. But I've been clean since September 2019, so now I am officially an addict in recovery from a World of Warcraft addiction. Although, I did have a small relapse in 2024, when they released the Classic Anniversary Realms, but it didn't do for me what it did before. I suppose my age has a lot to do with this. Not playing the game anymore freed a lot of time, that I now invest in to other things.

I love to mess around with all sorts of computer related things in my home-lab. I run a stupid amount of things from my own home. My energy bill has become ridiculously high, and my energy provider considers met to be a family of five, so I've been gradually reducing what I choose to keep running at all times. Also, since 2019, I found a new hobby and that's to build things in 3D with Blender. And the last year and a half I've been investing a lot of time in learning about AI, and using AI.

I'm always busy with something, or several things, I should say. I have a very long, never-ending to-do list of other things I want to do. Some projects work out great, and others are simply lessons to me, because I learn mostly through trial and error. I'm a huge, typical nerd, or rather a geek when it comes to internet and computers and I enjoy having long conversations about the subject with my fellow geeks.

My profession has always been in ICT. Mostly support and a bit of engineering. No top, high paid jobs since I don't have the papers to show all the things I have mastered. But, currently I am without a job so who cares anyway. Being without a job gives me the time to improve on my skills in 3D modelling. I also try to invest time in my DJ-ing skills and should really put more effort in to that, and I will, soon, or some day. All in good time, I suppose. What else can I say? I'm a huge fan of penguins, and I have no idea why, I just love everything about them. It's really silly. That's about all I can think of right now.

To finish it off, here are a couple of random words that are meaningful for me, in no particular order:

Pizza, friends, movies, cats, listening to music, penguins, making music, games, Ubuntu, love, the universe, internet, the 90s, freedom, TV-shows, technology, food, the meaning of life, parents, alcohol, Linux, family, House music, happiness, party, depression, life, death, and of course unicorns.
