When I was a kid a brand new invention called the CD player entered our lives. Along with it came, naturally, CD’s themselves. I was lucky enough that my parents decided to buy one of these CD players early on, while the music industry was still working very hard to produce these magic shiny discs with digitalized audio. I remember the exact moment when I was with my dad at the store buying this CD player and what’s a CD player without any CD’s? So, we also bought our very first CD over there. This was the magnificent Brother in Arms by the Dire Straits. As you can imagine I listened to this album A LOT back then. That’s the main reason the nostalgia for me towards this album is enormous. But, this great band has made many other magnificent albums. One of them being Sultans of Swing. On it, is a live version of a song with the same name. And I believe that it contains one of the greatest guitar solo’s of all time. Naturally this solo sounds even better when you listen to the song from the very beginning to the end and thankfully this can be done right here.
Now please let me know if you disagree if this is not the best song ever to sing a long with the volume at a volume that you can’t keep up that high for too long cause else your neighbors will start calling the cops. If you lived through the nineties, fully aware, then you will be one of them people that knows exactly what I mean. Enjoy! And don’t forget to turn that volume switch up higher as usual! EDIT: What an odd thing that exactly four days of posting this post the singer of the Cranberries Dolores Mary Eileen O’Riordan (Burton) died. Weird.
Blizzard announced at Blizzcon 2017 that a new World of Warcraft called Battle for Azeroth expansion will be released somewhere next year. Awesome introduction cinematic, as always. I’m excited! I think most players are excited. Are you excited? Let me know by leaving a comment below.
The video below shows all the previous World of Warcraft Expansion cinematics in chronological order, including the very first one from 2004. That’s the one that marks my introduction to the game when I first started playing in 2006. Back then I had no idea, or couldn’t even imagine that the game would eventually become such an important part of my life in all the years to come, up to this very day. When I watch that first video nowadays, more than ten years later, it sometimes brings tears to my eyes because it instantly takes me all the way back to that period in my life, and I’m just a sucker for nostalgia.
Good news everyone! Blizzard announced that they will also be releasing classic “Vanilla” servers that are going to be like how the game was when it was first released in 2004 before any expansion was released. I’m really excited about this and very curious when we can expect them online. Below is the introduction video shown at Blizzcon 2017 during the announcement of classic realms that shows all the expansion cinematics in reverse as a way to show that we’re going back in time. How’s that for nostalgia?

For me personally the Netflix TV-series The Expanse managed to fill a void that was created by what I believe to be a failing Star Trek sequel called Discovery that is also on Netflix. If you are, like me, somewhat disappointed in the new Star Trek series but still feel a primal urge for a really good sci-fi series I would advise you choose to watch The Expanse. You will binge-watch Discovery at some other point in the future when they have completed at least their first season. Trust me, I know what I’m talking about. Go and Expand, screw Discovering. 😉
First I should refer you to this post from back in May because else the rest of this post might not make any sense to you. Today I found out that a good friend did not see the show either! And he’s my age. At first I wanted to punch him in the face for it, but turns out that he’s now working day and night to binge through it and I just received a message that said he’s really enjoying the show. Well, I’ll keep the punch for other time then, cause he needs to be punched for other reasons as well. I’m just happy that he finally choose for himself to delve in to this adventure we call Breaking Bad.
Here’s a video from the TV-news in 1994 about the traffic chaos problems around Eindhoven the Netherlands caused by the hard-rock festival Dynamo Open Air that was visited by 125.000 people. Looking at the video now makes me feel really old because I was at this festival with two good friends when I was in my puberty and it all looks so dated looking at it now. I must say it was one of the coolest things I had ever experienced up till then. Actually… it was one of the best festivals that I ever experienced! The mud-slides played an important role in this I guess. I left the festival wearing the exact same clothes I was wearing when we came to the festival a couple days before. And I slept in those same clothes and didn’t shower the whole weekend and I believe I didn’t used a toothbrush that weekend. You can imagine that we came home with an actual “festival scent” of sweat, mud, beer and smoke and whatnot. Totally worth it. It was awesome. I’ve visited plenty of festivals after this one, and I still visit one now and again but I came to the conclusion years ago already that I will never experience another festival that was as great, huge and awesome as this one. I also like to add that moving the yearly returning festival from Eindhoven to some other location was the worst idea ever because that all went down hill for the festival … Read the rest
He’s back! And I mean HE’S REALLY BACK! Hans Teeuwen performs a show for an audience of Brits and it works. It is great to see. And FUCK YEAH we’re Dutch! See us damned! And FUCK THE FRENCH! Oh that feels good. Very therapeutic. Oh it’s on Netflix by the way. So go and see that!
