BFA is just around the corner

And with BFA I mean the new Word of Warcraft expansion Battle for Azeroth. This new expansion will be released exactly one week from now. The last expansion Legion was one of the best expansions we’ve seen over the years. I’ve enjoyed it very much. But to be honest I stopped playing World of Warcraft several months ago. And this freed up a lot of time to other things that I enjoy. So in that sense I didn’t miss playing WoW at all. In the last ten years I was always actively playing WoW whenever a new expansion came out. But this years I’m not so certain..
I’m trying to pump myself up by watching the latest cinematic trailers that have been released like the one below. And I’m making myself go online before the expansion is released because I still have some unfinished business in the game that I must finish before the release. But I’m having a hard time doing so. I guess 32 degrees Celsius is not exactly the ideal weather to spend behind your computer playing video games. We’ll see what will happen a week from now…

Access to alpha for Battle for Azeroth

Today I received an e-mail from Blizzard informing me that I have been selected to participate in the alpha test version for the upcoming expansion Battle for Azeroth. I hope this means that I will automatically also get access to the beta version that will be released soon. I’m not going to try the alpha version because well… it’s alpha. I’m not even sure if I will be trying the beta version or not. I had beta access before the last expansion was released and I didn’t really care much for it. But it’s nice to see that Blizzard is rewarding me, and other players that have been playing the game for about a decade.

Achieving Ahead of the Curve: Argus the Unmaker

Today was a good day for me in the World of Warcraft. I got my achievement Ahead of the Curve: Argus the Unmaker by killing Argus in Antorus on Heroic difficulty. That means I also received the awesome mount that goes really good with my transmog. Many thanks to Laurens and the people in his guild who made this possible by boosting me. So that’s one thing to cross of my in-game todo list. Next is to start farming reputation at Argussian Reach and Army of the Light factions. I must admit reaching goals like that was a lot easier when I was without a job. But I don’t have any problems with the fact that it takes me a bit more time as it used to. I still enjoy spending my free time on building towards these goals. Or I could switch to watching TV…. nah just kidding, who watches TV anymore? Click on the read more link below to see a short video of the fight with Argus. Oh and for the real fanatics here are the Warcraftlogs stats.

This is going to change the world… of warcraft

Blizzard announced at Blizzcon 2017 that a new World of Warcraft called Battle for Azeroth expansion will be released somewhere next year. Awesome introduction cinematic, as always. I’m excited! I think most players are excited. Are you excited? Let me know by leaving a comment below.

The video below shows all the previous World of Warcraft Expansion cinematics in chronological order, including the very first one from 2004. That’s the one that marks my introduction to the game when I first started playing in 2006. Back then I had no idea, or couldn’t even imagine that the game would eventually become such an important part of my life in all the years to come, up to this very day. When I watch that first video nowadays, more than ten years later, it sometimes brings tears to my eyes because it instantly takes me all the way back to that period in my life, and I’m just a sucker for nostalgia.

Good news everyone! Blizzard announced that they will also be releasing classic “Vanilla” servers that are going to be like how the game was when it was first released in 2004 before any expansion was released. I’m really excited about this and very curious when we can expect them online. Below is the introduction video shown at Blizzcon 2017 during the announcement of classic realms that shows all the expansion cinematics in reverse as a way to show that we’re going back in time. How’s that for nostalgia?

It’s time for some Cosplay!

This weekend is Gamescom 2017 in Germany where Blizzard has already presented their new upcoming content. I was pretty surprised to learn that the new patch goes live next week already!! Still so many things to do before then :-|.  What I always love is the Cosplay contest at these events. Transmogging is one of the elements in the game World of Warcraft that I really like so you can imagine that I have a lot of items/gear-sets memorized. That’s one of the reasons I love watching the Cosplay competition. Some Cosplayers really put in the extra effort what makes their appearance absolutely stunning. Have a look at this years Cosplay event at Gamescom over here on Youtube.

The quest to find Leeroy

If you are not a World of Warcraft player you should stop reading right now because this post will probably not make any sense to you. I’ve decided to embark on a quest to find Leeroy. He’s not dead yet so he’s got to be somewhere! I will start where the Terminator also started his quest; in the phone-book registry. So let’s start making some calls! I will post the results here soon (press read more below for them once I’ve added them)

What would you have done?

Last month, Reddit user Khemist49 made a truly unlikely find: a gold master source code disc of the original StarCraft. From 1998. At first, he didn’t know what to do with it. Ultimately, he sent it to Blizzard, who was very grateful to have it back. Khemist49 first came across the disc in a “box of Blizzard stuff” he purchased on eBay. He was shocked at what he saw: a CD-R that read “StarCraft Gold Master Source Code.”

Source code is a game’s underlying programming before it’s ever compiled and released. It’s often proprietary and is rarely made available to the public for fear of revealing company secrets. When Khemist49 first posted about StarCraft’s on Reddit, some people asked him to rip its contents and make them freely available, while others derided him as “scummy” for not doing so if he planned to try and make money off it. He wrote that the decision over what to do with it was driving him “crazy.”

After days of deliberation, Khemist49 said he heard from Blizzard directly. He said the publisher’s legal team had asked him to return the disc because it contained “intellectual property and trade secrets.” He sought legal advice about what to do, but ultimately decided to err on the side of caution and send it to Blizzard. For his troubles, he received a copy of Overwatch and $250 in Blizzard store credit. Cool. He figured that was the end of it.

But in an elated post

Some loving words and appreciation towards Blizzard

I haven’t been playing the new World of Warcraft expansion Legion as much as I thought I would before it was released due to even less important activities that have been taking up most of my time. Writing this post for example might be one those things. I’m even falling behind on some of my friends and guildies! What the f is wrong with me? Can somebody please check my priorities algorithms? They feel a bit fragmented..
In all honesty, I don’t really care all that much about falling a bit behind, I’ll catch up sooner or later. It’s more that I just really want to continue doing all the stuff that is on my in-game ToDo list and the new quests, obtain new achievements, and try to earn some prestige in the new PvP system, but it all feels a bit overwhelming to be honest. After such a long dry period of interesting content all these new things are a big change. Still getting used to that. Currently I’m trying to focus on finishing the paladin quest-lines, and my progressing profession quests. But I also want to obtain friendly reputation with all of the newly added factions because I want to be able to do world quests asap. I believe that so far I’ve put the most effort in to obtaining some of the new honor talents. Too bad they only work in PvP environments. But it gave me some nice random rewards in the form of gear that … Read the rest

Fighting as a snowman in PvP BG during WoD Season III

If you are a World of Warcraft player and know your stuff a bit than you will probably see the fun in this video. If not then please carry on, there’s nothing to see here. Completely by accident I found out that it’s possible to be transformed in to a snowman, but still be able to move around. Normally when you use this common toy then you are also transformed but unable to move. I thought this was pretty hilarious and I wish I saw the real faces of the enemy players when they first saw me hoppin’ around on the battlefield. I’m pretty sure they never saw that before or at least not often. I laughed my ass of when I recorded this. Doing this requires the help of another player by the way, and that player will have to have some snowballs in their inventory since the toy requires one snowball to work that is consumed when using the toy.

Ironman achievement in WSG BG WoW

Well this achievement only took me several years to get lol. A fair dosage of luck plays a big role in getting this achievement. I already gave up on getting it on my pally. But then, one hot Sunday afternoon, when least expected, I earned the famous Ironman Achievement. I really have the healer that accompanied me to thank for it because without those heals I would have never made it. Since then I also earned the Master of Warsong Gulch meta achievement. I was pretty proud of myself when I got that so excuse my bragging about it here.

Ret Paladin in PvP Battleground WoD Season III

This is just some random battleground PvP gameplay I recorded somewhere during Warlords of Draenor Season III. To be honest I still miss the way the game-play was for my ret paladin. Overal I’m always happy or don’t even care at all what Blizzard changes in the game but this time I was really annoyed and pretty upset. Now that I think back I realize I still feel a bit annoyed. Ret pala was so awesome to play in PvP during Warlords of Draenor. RIP!
