This weekend is Gamescom 2017 in Germany where Blizzard has already presented their new upcoming content. I was pretty surprised to learn that the new patch goes live next week already!! Still so many things to do before then :-|. What I always love is the Cosplay contest at these events. Transmogging is one of the elements in the game World of Warcraft that I really like so you can imagine that I have a lot of items/gear-sets memorized. That’s one of the reasons I love watching the Cosplay competition. Some Cosplayers really put in the extra effort what makes their appearance absolutely stunning. Have a look at this years Cosplay event at Gamescom over here on Youtube.
If you are not a World of Warcraft player you should stop reading right now because this post will probably not make any sense to you. I’ve decided to embark on a quest to find Leeroy. He’s not dead yet so he’s got to be somewhere! I will start where the Terminator also started his quest; in the phone-book registry. So let’s start making some calls! I will post the results here soon (press read more below for them once I’ve added them)
I would love to have one of these old Blizzard servers that the game World of Warcraft used to run on. Back in the day a realm used to run on one of these bad boys. I need one of these servers for nostalgic reasons. And of course to mess around with to get my own private server running 🙂
Some random PvP arena game-play of me doing 2v2 in World of Warcraft Season 4 with a Death Knight friend.
Our guild Vliegende Hollanders (Trollbane-EU) has recently decided to team up with Shadow Army (Aerie Peak-EU) to combine our resources and manpower to make some progress in the new Tomb of Sargeras raid and it was a very successful evening. I uploaded a compilation to youtube for those very few people that are interested in watching it.
Last month, Reddit user Khemist49 made a truly unlikely find: a gold master source code disc of the original StarCraft. From 1998. At first, he didn’t know what to do with it. Ultimately, he sent it to Blizzard, who was very grateful to have it back. Khemist49 first came across the disc in a “box of Blizzard stuff” he purchased on eBay. He was shocked at what he saw: a CD-R that read “StarCraft Gold Master Source Code.”
Source code is a game’s underlying programming before it’s ever compiled and released. It’s often proprietary and is rarely made available to the public for fear of revealing company secrets. When Khemist49 first posted about StarCraft’s on Reddit, some people asked him to rip its contents and make them freely available, while others derided him as “scummy” for not doing so if he planned to try and make money off it. He wrote that the decision over what to do with it was driving him “crazy.”
After days of deliberation, Khemist49 said he heard from Blizzard directly. He said the publisher’s legal team had asked him to return the disc because it contained “intellectual property and trade secrets.” He sought legal advice about what to do, but ultimately decided to err on the side of caution and send it to Blizzard. For his troubles, he received a copy of Overwatch and $250 in Blizzard store credit. Cool. He figured that was the end of it.
But in an elated post

I love the fact that the game World of Warcraft allows and provides the option to use addons. I especially love the ones that let me customize the User Interface to my own liking. I run a reasonable amount of addons and I will list the most important ones in a list below. Some players believe that an experienced wow player (I like to think of myself as one of those) doesn’t need addons to play. And there’s some truth in that of course. But it’s not that I nééd them, I just prefer them because they bring some extra things in to the game that I like. So if you are one of those people, screw you and have fun looking at that same UI for more time to come. So here’s the list of my most important addons.
I haven’t been playing the new World of Warcraft expansion Legion as much as I thought I would before it was released due to even less important activities that have been taking up most of my time. Writing this post for example might be one those things. I’m even falling behind on some of my friends and guildies! What the f is wrong with me? Can somebody please check my priorities algorithms? They feel a bit fragmented..
In all honesty, I don’t really care all that much about falling a bit behind, I’ll catch up sooner or later. It’s more that I just really want to continue doing all the stuff that is on my in-game ToDo list and the new quests, obtain new achievements, and try to earn some prestige in the new PvP system, but it all feels a bit overwhelming to be honest. After such a long dry period of interesting content all these new things are a big change. Still getting used to that. Currently I’m trying to focus on finishing the paladin quest-lines, and my progressing profession quests. But I also want to obtain friendly reputation with all of the newly added factions because I want to be able to do world quests asap. I believe that so far I’ve put the most effort in to obtaining some of the new honor talents. Too bad they only work in PvP environments. But it gave me some nice random rewards in the form of gear that … Read the rest
