Technically, it is possible to change the domain to an IP. But the thing is: nowadays pretty much every website runs on HTTPS. A website that runs under HTTPS won't be able to open a livestream that is hosted on HTTP. So it is strongly advised to make sure that the livestream also runs on HTTPS. To achieve this, you will need to be using a domain name to get the certificates. I don't understand your second question.

Do you have a domain name? And have you set the domain to point to the external IP address of your server?

That usually means that it's not setup correctly. Yet.
I would need to know more about this wowza and VLC setup first if I want to answer your question correctly. But my first guess would be that CORS has not been setup properly perhaps. Wowza gives you a .m3u8 output? Different domain or same? Are all the asociated URL's in http or https or mixed?

the player loading and loading and loading. the Stream in my case comes from "Wowza" and plays well on VLC but i cannot project that live stream to videojs in order to be playable on PC and iOS-Android

If you want to use that package by Quinn Ebert, and mainly the installer, then I suggest to remove everything first. I haven't tried it myself but I believe it is mentioned somewhere that the script assumes a clean install. I can imagine the script won't work if it doesn't see exactly what it expects. So the correct order would be, install the other package first, and afterwards you'll notice that most of the files are already there. You can edit these to your pleasing by following my examples.

Oof, I went ahead and tried out his Easy HLS Site, I'm not able to stream anymore :(. Guess I have to redo the stream server again, I made no backups unfortunately but at least the second time through will be much faster.

Again if you know the correct way to use this new low latency HLS functionality please let me know. I'm quite inexperienced using HLS and nginx so all the help counts!

f I could ask you a question, I noticed your update from 24-07-2020 – "Take a look at the git repo for easy hls site instal by Quinn Ebert. He has created it based on my guide and video. " I want to use this to reduce the latency of my stream, however I've already built the server and am not sure if adding this will negatively affect the function of my server. Do I have to install his repo before following your instructions or after? And what other new changes should I know so I do not get confused later on?

I have ubuntu running on a digital ocean droplet, and my nginx.conf file has the hls files temporarily writing to path /nginx/hls/

however i would like to have t hese files write elsewhere as you recommend, on another drive, but i don't quite understand how to effectively do this. this streaming app i have built for a client, they will use OBS to stream to the digital ocean droplet. so where does another drive come in to temporarily write files to? thank you so. much in advance

The Error is showing when I am on the http://STREAMINGSERVER/index.html.
"The media could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported."

Sometimes, it doesn't show this message. But then the Viedeo isn't loading. Just the loading animation, again and again.

For your information I skipt the SSL part.
